Sailing rig?

I've had a look and I'm not sure this has come up before, but what about a universal sailing rig for the canoes and kayaks, with outriggers and leeboards etc? I get it's probably something that a lot of people figure out for themselves, but some of us aren't that smart  Now that I'm making some...

Re: Stalker build log

Don't forget to put packing tape on the forms to keep the epoxy from sticking to the forms. I did that ONCE! Andy Haha, yeah I don't fancy permanent bulkheads in a canoe. Fortunately the forms have been taped up since 2013. They're actually out of the boat now and filleting is taking place to prep ...

The genius of my plan is that it's really in the way at the moment, but I can't move it or do anything with it until it's done, so I don't really have a choice 😄

Re: Stalker build log

Stitching is all done, seams are masked, hull is flipped and ready for tacking. http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo219/Moony81/1_zpsdio3izkr.jpg The inevitable result of working on what is currently a very prickly boat: http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo219/Moony81/IMG_20180918_123931_zpsf73v6p...

Re: Stalker build log

Hi Bob, I'm in Goulburn NSW (between Sydney and Canberra), and hopefully it'll see some pretty varied use. Here in town it's fun just to put in on the local river of an afternoon and give the redfin population a hard time. Canberra is only a stone's throw away and I'm there a lot, and it has quite a...

Re: Stalker build log

I think the perspective of that photo might be throwing you off but that's all 14' of boat right there. Panels are already scarfed together but the angle of that shot makes it look shorter than it actually is.

Re: Stalker build log

If there's an award for slowest build ever I'm pretty confident it's mine :) I did say it'd be on the slow side... So looking back at when I started this, I had one child and life was very different. I now have three and the boat panels have been sitting in the garage waiting. They've even moved hou...

Re: Stalker build log

Well, finally some progress to report on. I've been snatching the odd bit of time here and there while the boy has his naps and have been getting panels cut out and sanded. It's been a bit of a waiting game though as I only have the weekends to do stuff that involves power tools (I'm away from 7am-7...

Re: Stalker build log

Work table? Nah, that's just a lofting table. Gotta throw that out and build a gluing table now :)

Re: Stalker build log

I started the lofting process today. It's painstaking work, and very easy to make mistakes but I found it really enjoyable. Important to check everything at least a couple of times though. I didn't take any photos as lofted panels are not very exciting. I did however spend the weekend building this,...
