Re: Trapper 35" Floatation Bulkheads - Watertight Storage?
Glassing the interior first will be much easier than trying to do the sections after installing bulkheads. I glassed the hull of my Laker first and it has been OK. Use some glass tape on the bulkhead to hull joints just as you would with any other joint and it will be fine. I've tried making my own ...

Re: Sabalo 12 my first kayak build
There's a saying that experience is the thing you get just after you need it. I think that's one of the reasons why many people build a second boat.
Anyway, if it's any consolation, all the panels look good in the photos .

Re: Sabalo 12 my first kayak build
Looking good so far. Regarding scarfing panels, I remember looking at various jigs for power tools years ago and they were all more trouble than they were worth. A good block plane and a bit of practice is all you need, especially with plywood because the plies show you where the high spots are. If ...

Re: Quarantine Kayak Build - Blue Fin 15-29 w/ Mirage Drive
Looks like you had a great day. Well done on the build and on the sliming!
Thanks also for a really good thread. The comparison with the other kayaks is bonus info that doesn't appear very often.
And good luck on the salmon!

The painted hull / timber deck combination looks great - all it needs now is some fish slime!

Trim looks good and that means you put the drive well in the right place. It would have been very difficult to sort out if wrong so job well done.
Looking forward to seeing photos with all the accessories fitted.

Re: Quarantine Kayak Build - Blue Fin 15-29 w/ Mirage Drive
Looking real good Phil. Going to be a nice fishing craft when finished.
Had a quiet chuckle at the photo with all the weights on the floor panels.

Re: Kiwi Sabalo.
Some good progress there and it's looking good. When setting up the half panels for doing the butt joints check the layout carefully against the drawing. About the time I was doing my laker some people had the panels at the wrong angle so even thought the QA check gave right number the panels were j...

Re: Kiwi Sabalo.
Good move Sudz. Sabalo is a nice fishing craft and you're getting something positive out of a bad situation. Keep posting progress photos and ask questions if you have any difficulty. Things are quiet on most forums these days but there are still a few people around to help out with comments and adv...
