I found some on ebay.
Inexpensive and seem to do the trick.

Re: Merry merrimac
Just a few pics of the final stages of my merrimac for any interested parties. I'm pretty happy with her. I have carefully selected some these photos so as not to show all the blemishes. http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx273/Barneseye/th_Photo0107.jpg?t=1277669750 Fitting bulkheads and hatches. h...

Re: Merry merrimac
Woohoo :!: :!: :D :D She's finished. Sorry no pics for the final few stages but i've been to slack to put them on phototbucket yet. Had her in a few times and like her more each time. Left the bottom clean no runners and glad about it. Seems some of the trouble with tracking was being on the sea wit...

Re: Texas Sabalo build
I USUALLY THINK ITS A SHAME TO PAINT THESE LOVELY WOODEN BOATS BUT THAT IS A MASTERPIECE.
YOUR ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT NOONE WILL BELIEVE YOU BUILT IT.
LOOKS FRESH OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR.

Re: Merrimac bottom runners
Thanks for the input.
It sounds like a good excuse to spend more time in the boat 'practicing'.
Just need to get her finished.

Re: Merrimac bottom runners
There's some good bill mason videos on google videos that i've had a look at. I can do the j stroke and keep her straight if i'm not going too fast. If i try to pick up the pace it goes all over the place. I'm sure i could still improve my technique though. I'd prefer to keep the keep the bottom as ...

Re: Merrimac Butt Joints
If you use but blocks you can glue them on at the same time you glue the panels together. Straight away very strong and they help keep the panels flat when you join them. Not as neat as fibreglass splices though and if i built an open canoe again i don't think I would use them next time round. Good ...

Merrimac bottom runners
The couple of times i've had her out if i'm paddling fairly slowly i can keep straight just paddling on one side. But when i try get moving she's all over the place and need to change side every couple of strokes. Would it be worth gluing runners along the bottom to help tracking. I'm a bit torn. I'...

Re: Wye 13-6
I'm actually from 'down under' originally hence the lost in Kent. I feel right at home on this forum. Lots of aussies a few brits, and a guy from not to far away from me is building a Merrimac (good choice i think) and will hopefully be posting some pics soon. I'll think of you every time i'm stuck ...
