Wadefish and Sabalo

Post by bemm52 »

Matt and Others
Plans and how to's arrived yesterday :D for Wadefish.I have a question
Weather I go with Wadefish or Sabalo I am looking for lightest possible build.
I realise the type of ply I use will effect this outcome so I probably will use Okoulme or Gaboon, as yet I still have to find a supplier, I live in Sydney Australia its a fairly large town.
My question is this I noticed that Danger Mouse added a lot of extra holes in his cockpit framing, the how to's say don't do this?
Is this because people could cut to many and weaken structure?
Is there a layout for lightening holes or is it just a matter of common sense?
My gut feeling is use common sense but I thought I would fish arround a bit.

Bemm52;
For what it's worth, all those holes I added to my cockpit frame actually only reduced the weight by ounces, and only by about 6-8 at that, if that much.

There's some info on how to go about it in the plans. Basically, you need to leave about 2" between circles.

DM is correct on the WF: it doesn't add up to much.

Ply suppliers Sydney

Post by Artfull Dodger »

Hi Bemm52,

I also have been investigating suppliers for Ply around Sydney, I have located a local supplier at:

Australian Wood Panels Pty Ltd

8- 10 Jessica Pl
Prestons
NSW, 2170
Australia

The gaboon 4mm ply sheets start at around $35 aud.

Hope this helps
