Thanks John...... Yeah, I love the shape too. It really looks like she means business :)
No hassles yet really. Matts plans and instructions are great. Clear and easy to follow........ The only hitches (few and minor) have been self inflicted through inexperience and getting myself confused.....and just learning the techniques with using the gooey stuff.......and hairy dogs..all easily rectified..

Cheers Mick
Yeah, I'm sure you're right.
I was just thinking back to the old canoe I'd made and the way she broke up but on reflection she wasn't fully glassed, only taped on the seams. Got speared broadside through the centre of the hull side so the weakness wasn't really longitudinal anyway.
And I won't be hitting any submerged trees in full flowing rivers in this one either.........too old for that caper.

olsnappa,

let me know when/where you'll go if you go for a test paddle or a real one if you need a hand (read: I'd like a look) or a few shore based pictures...

Well, I got a bit delayed on glassing the inside of the hull last week but have managed to get on with it this weekend...... What a pain of a job that is!!!!
Anyway...onto more fun bits.
Starting to work on the decks
Checking the fit of the rear deck before cutting out the hatch

Like a bum in a bucket :D

Hatch opening cut.
I practiced the graphite/epoxy mixture by using it to coat the inside of the aft storage space. I call it the "black hole"

Dang! that recess in the back end is just begging for an electric motor to be built into it 8) Haven't actually seen a pic of these boats in the water. I can't wait to see how it sits. Any chance of you giving up your day job and launch it next week?

John......I've been having fantasies about quitting and moving down to Mallacoota, living like a hermit and building kayaks and canoes.......
The missus didn't like the idea much......
