Mick....

I an assuming that the newspapers are to catch any drips of epoxy , Or are there for your reading while you watch the epoxy set up?

If the epoxy would soak threw the paper then you would have a perment reading material in your boat to look at as you paddle along.

I don't want to sound like Jack ..... Heavens forbid that......... but we use the old papers in the parrots cages here at the house , or like Jack , in our outhouse. Which we stopped using when we got running water and indoor pluming last week.

Jack told me he will have the same pluming at the end of this year. I bet his little house out back gets mighty cold in the winter time. My guess is that is why he has ..... BROWN EYES........

Heys Chuck,

The papers are just to protect the shiny bits. I am way sick of sanding the wood flour drips off. No matter how carefule I am or what the thickness of the mix, I allways seem to splash some around where I don't want it.

OK, Decks are tacked together. Haven't ben able to get much done these past few days. Too much other stuff needed doing.

I have to put the bow and stern decks on seperately. the entire deck, in one pices is just too big and awkward for me to manage.

I got the spacers and stitches out tonight and the gaps filled. Will take the decks off tomorrow and glass underneath. with any luck, they should be ready to stitch to the hull on my next days off.

Mick,

I know you have more boats than Mad River and Dagger canoe companies combined, but I think you are going to fall in love with a decked, solo canoe pretty fast and pretty hard. Here is the ONE boat design in which you can go from swamp to sea.

The basic hull and deck platform can be modified to hell and back. Sail in it; clamp on a motor mount and use an electric or gas outboard; scull it; pole it; sleep in it; camp from it; roam for weeks in it; glue in rod holders and fish in it; even take your sweety for an afternoon of dalliance in it.

For once, we are thinking along the same lines.

I don't really need a boat like this. I have a superb expedition sea kayak, OK two of them

A very good SOT, A couple of very good flat water kayaks, A fine canadian canoe and a sweet little pirogue that is my favourite of them all.

This one is an experiment, I am looking for the ideal compromise and as she is coming together, I am thinking more and more, " This is the one." for all of the reasons you mentioned and more.

I got the underneath of the decks filleted and glassed today. A couple more coats of epoxy this afternoon and they should be close to going on the boat next week.

Too tired to upload piccies now, it is time for my poppy nap. Will post them tonight.

all fillets are cleaned up and saturation coat is on.

Looking good. WHat's all the whiteness inside the hull? Is that dust or is that the glass looking white?
