Well the deck has seemed to work out OK after all that. Wet out the glass last night and apart from the very tips at bow and stern she looks reasonably neat.

Will just sand the ends and reapply patches later.

I like the dark seam color contrast on the deck.

She is looking really good and if I may I have a suggestion about something you might want to do , either now or ( Especially) when she is ready for the water.

Keep her away from Mick or you might be missing a boat.

Just a warning from one builder to another knowing how Mick thinks since he thinks along my lines ... Personally if you were over here in the southern U.S.A. I would be slipping around your place looking for it. But only for a test run , say a year or two.

You are doing a great job and trust me we are always looking at another boat , to add to our stable or collection.

Did 2 fill coats on the deck and smoothed the transition between deck glass and sides. Need some more fillcoats yet - it's amazing how you can be so careful and then still find missed patches.

Also glassed the underside of the seat and cut a small hatch in it.


Noticed a sightly pale colour on the sides and bottom of the hull. Not sure but suspect it could be blush. If so, it has taken several weeks to develop so I would still rate this as "low blush". There is still wet rubbing to do so that should take care of any blush.

It's likely a little blush. Scrub the area with some soapy water or acetone. Light sanding and it should be gone.

Been getting bogged down with the detail stuff so things have been slow.

Previous post showed the seat in place. It is glued down now. This is what it looks like underneath. The ribs allowed use of only 1 thickness of ply. Flatter pieces are to support the little hatch.


Cut out the rear deck hatch yesterday - boy was I nervous about cutting into the deck. It came up OK and with a little judicious sanding/epoxying should be what I was after.





Also finished cutting out all the pieces for the coaming. They need to be tidied up before glueing on and the wide top pieces need to be reduced in width by 5mm.


She weighed in at 13.5kg (29.75lb) today. This was with 6 clamps attached so with seat pad, toggles, hatch bungies and footbraces installed it should be near 31lb.
