I'm planning to build my first stitch and tape boat - a small open canoe - I've seen lots of instructions on the stitch and tape method all over the web, but nowhere is the width of the tape mentioned and photos close enough to show the tape are not ideal for judging scale or dimensions.

Is 25mm woven tape adequate for the job, or is it necessary to use 50mm width?

76mm is the narrowest I'd recommend. 200 gram / meter weight.

Hi Mangetout,
I used 50mm with a 1/3 overlap at the join which pretty much equates to Matt's recommendation.

Thanks for that - I was way off-target - your advice has saved me making a potentially costly and/or dangerous mistake. Thanks.
