Installing rails for front seat

Hi guys. I need help installing these seats I made.

Image

This is the front seat that rides on a set of rails that will hang from the inwales and the front thwart. The rails are so I can adjust the position of the seat.

The thing that's got me is how do I go about hanging the rails "level"? What would be "level" in the first place? I imagine the angle of the boat would depend on each loading situation.

Thanks in advance.

balance the hull so there is even amount of rocker under each end, use a level.

Related but not exactly ... are the thwarts level? I put them exactly where your plans say.

Looks like you've got a lot of business Matt.

This is the Muskoka.

the thwarts are not level. The front one is about 1.5" higher.

Thanks Matt but I guess I'm off somewhere. Here's what I did: I put a straight piece centered on the thwarts with the end on the rear thwart rasided by 1.5". I then put a level on straight piece and then leveled the canoe. Stepping back and looking at it, the bow looks too high. Of course I could be wrong. Any way to check this?

What other method can I use?

hmmm...

Confirm the distances from the bow and stern you have the thwarts at. I don't have the plans with me on this computer.
