Virgin builder so be gentle with me...

I'm going to start with the free download canoe and hopefully get some early success before trying a more complex design and eventually a strip plank design (because a like curves...).

I'm not sure what ply I'll find but I can't find wood flour anywhere (probably looking in the wrong spots).

Any pointers appreciated.

Welcome aboard mate.

Matt the site owener is away for few days so i am not sure if he can activate you or not. I don't have the necessary authority.

Where in Aus are you? general area will do.

If you have a joinery or cainet makers shop nearby, just call in and ask them for some of the stuff from their dust collection system. that is all I use.

I would sift it through some shade cloth first to get the coarser bits out.

You can also buy it from ATL composites or Boat Caft Pacific, bit it is the same stuff.

Shoot me a PM if you are still having trouble and I will send some to you for the cost of postage.

I use only, and recommend West Systems 105 Resin and 207 Special Purpose hardener.

I'm going to start adding these companies to my supplier list. I'll start another thread asking all builders to list where they get their materials. I still reserve the right to exclude certain companies who shall remain nameless.

I'm a bit away from hairymick, down south in Victoria so I'll try to find some local supplies, that way my canoe builds won't cost more in freight than in materials...

but thanks for the pointers and the build starts in Feb when I get all the bits for my b'day.

Hi Tor.
Have you found your wood flour?
I picked up a Bote Cote product called Fillet and Glue Filler Powder.
Haven't used it yet...(not quite at that stage).......so can't vouch for how good it is but have heard good things about Bote Cote products.
I got mine from McDonald Marine in South Melbourne. Its also available at Marine Timbers in Seaford.
