First time out on 4th of July

I could not wait any longer to take her out on the water. There was a 4th of july festival next to Lady Bird lake in Austin, TX and this was the perfect opportunity. I could not believe how wonderful this boat glides though the water. Just a few strokes and I went for ever. I felt tippy at first, but after some paddling I felt right at home. I met two other people that built boats, one had a beautiful red cedar strip canoe and the other had built two kayaks and was working on a third. They were just as excited to meet someone who built boats as I was. I finished the night right at home in my boat watching the fireworks explode above the water and listening to the austin symphony.
This is when I first got into my Laker I named Goldenrod

Nice work. Love seeing someone learn what they can do if they want.

G'day Painted,
Again, congratulations. but doubly so.
I think you could well be our first female builder to complete a build on her own. Bloody OUTSTANDING.

Thanks guys, people were so impressed with the boats design, they were shocked that I built it and I was definitely throwing Jem Watercraft around to let people know about your awesome boats.

I think most of us have had that "couldn't wait any longer" feeling - it's why so many boats are first paddled before being finished.
Sounds like you had a perfect day out for the first paddle too. Welcome to the wonderful world of Laker

and congratulations on a fine build.

That's Texas hospitality for you , The launching and trial run of the Goldenrod and they have a fireworks show for you , what a celebration.
