....had a new SOT project in mind. Don't feel like playing "Change the Name" Game for all the different plans (03, plus my ideas). Bought the WadeFish Plans. Loved it (and the Sabalo), but lookin' for even sleeker & faster, ocean yak. Settled on a 17' x 24" "British" Plan, (the darn plans are in metric). Anyway, very simple 4 panel hull construstion. I've built Yaks from Kits, but not from plans. ...Anyway...Question...If you want to increase the "beam" of a kit (with out changing the length), and you change the bottom panels of the hull to the desired width (an inch or two in the cockpit area, to accomandate a larger butt). To change the Top Panels of the sides to fit, can you "Basically" run a piece of string along the new Bottom Panel's top edge , measure the length and make this dimension the new Top Panel's bottom edge's length( and follow the basic panel curve)? ...or is it more complicated (doesn't seem like Rocket Science,....but I want to get it right the first time)? If there's interest, I'll try to post the progress, (or lack there of, "Viking Funerals" are always cool) on the Builders Log. Well anyway....Thanks for any help you can give. Changing the length of plans is a doable process. Changing the beam is another story.

The panels don't typically scale together "cleanly" and the nesting of the panels pretty much goes out the window. Lots of excess plywood used.

....Yea almost identical. I don't have to change the beam, my "Virgina Bay" SIT is a 24" beam...I do fit. But trying to squeeze the Wadefish style cockpit (and room to fish) seems like it might be "Tight". The "bow" on my proposed design is a lil' higher then your rendering, and the stern more "dagger" like, but all the other lines are "Very" simular. I'm still going to build a "Wadefish", for the wife. Just trying to build something a lil' bit like a "South Africa SOT's" for myself. I've read your post earilier this year on a Yak Fishin' site, I know you were kinda being led to a simuliar design (my "handle" here is not the same as on that site). I've talked with a few of those people, leading me to this design concept (I 'm hoping it works, "Scubbers" are totally out of the picture, "venture drains" instead I think). Thanks for the advise. I really appreciate the help.
