Heya neil,
looking great mate. A 12 foot version is a good idea. Not everybody wants a big canoe. 2 of them would make a fine pontoon boat as well.

Thanks for the comments chaps. Once I've constructed the boat the next challenge is going to be powering her. I'm thinking a handpowered paddlewheel either side but I'm not sure how to construct. Does anyone know what width paddlewheels should be, how many spokes & how many 'oars', etc ? Also should they be offset so that they exit the water without causing drag ?

I can't offer much advice about the paddle wheels. The links Chuck posted should be a good to start a little research about them.
