I use my shop vac with a "duster" brush attachment. In the beginning of my build, I used the wet rag, but found out the water will wick into pinholes and stay. Then when you re-coat with epoxy, the water makes the epoxy hazy. This happend over tape that was not perfectly wetted out,(now that tape is hazy instead of clear). If you can do a great fiberglass job it may not be an issue.

A quick wipe down with a lint free rag damp with alcohol or acetone might be a better choice instead of water.

A nice strong shop-vac is always helpful around the shop too.

My shop vac leaves behind a thin layer of dust even after I use the brush attachment (venetian blind cleaner) to vac off "all" of the dust. A rag with alcohol (acetone is FLAMMABLE) would be nice to remove the remainder. (Matt, please send me any old shirts you have laying around?)

I vacume, then brush off with a soft bristle paint brush, then wipe down with a just damp chamois.

I heard Chuck just licks his boat to get the dust off.

Hello, put the saturation coat on last night, I checked today and see that most of it penetrated the wood but in spots there is a layer of epoxy on the wood as well as a few small runs, do I need to sand the layer of epoxy down to the wood and get a consistent finish or do I merely sand the layak to get a smooth surface?
She is looking nice (for a first timer)

I'd sand off any large bumps or runs. But otherwise, you should be fine.

Like Matt says, I would also sand off any resin runs and bumps, then just a light sand over the rest before you put the glass on.

Hello Matt. One more dumb question. The glass cloth for the freedom is specified to be 38" wide, so that is what I got.Turns out the freedom is 40 1/2" wide, I dont want to lay the cloth perpendicular because I dont like sanding seams.Would it be a good idea to put a narrow strip centered on the bottom and then slitting the cloth over the strip which would open up and give the extra width required. I would then only have a small seam on the center of the bottom.

You should have a slight overlap for when you fiberglass the deck to the hull. Do you see that in the instructions?
