Not my boat, of course, just a suggestion.

It was sketched with paddling still in mind. Not the most narrow thing but should go along pretty good.

It would be a tight fit for rowing.

Well this is my design idea I have been working on.......... getting there I think. Had to decide what I really wanted in a fly fishing boat and go from there.

Saw a Mad River Adventure canoe in sports store and realized 14' is plenty long for a solo fishing boat so I started over and this is where it stands now.

14' length, 34" max beam, 15"-12"-13.5" bow-mid-stern height
1" rocker front and rear, 3-4" draft at 270-380 gross
Asymmetrical hull, flat bottom, 4 panels plus deck, lower hull is inspired by Matt's Freedom plan and changed to my tastes

Giving up speed for stability and roominess in cockpit area. Its like a sit in SOT I think.

Just a suggestion, I would consider a small-ish peak in the foredeck for run-off - and coamings for the cockpit. I also find a well immediately behind the paddler to be of use. other than that, it looks the goods to me.

I keep coming back to your concept sketches. I think there are very definate possibilities in this one. Perhaps a SOT version? I think it would lend itself very well to a mirage drive option or even small decks as a smallish decked touring canoe?

I think the high bow would appeal to some. Will send a PM when I get my thoughts in order. bloody tired just now.

Nice sketches. More of a decked canoe than a kayak. But that's just terminology.

Mick- The boat I drew needs some refinement. But I think something similar to it in a SOT would be popular for the crowd that likes Cobra Kayaks and Malibu Kayaks.

Truth is the deck and cockpit in the sketch are just flat undeveloped shape layers in the CAD model right now. So it will get the proper coaming details and such when I have time to work on it again.

Thought of leaving the deck flat as is with raised coaming to shed water off the sides, or making a very slightly rounded deck. I don't care for the looks of sharply peaked decks much myself.

And of course I need hatches and well areas thought thru too.

I am looking to be able to sit in the seat on the floor to paddle around, and then quick like push up to a seat area on the rear deck to cast and fish from............ maybe build a sliding seat track that slides forward, and the lower back rest pivots up with help of spring to become a raised seating platform............. or something simpler etc.............

One of the reasons I made it so wide, so I can move around in it without tipping it right off the bat.

Still need to work on the rear lower hull at the curved transom, there is a design program generated, very tortured round area on the farthest aft frame station that I dislike but have not been able to fair manually to my liking either.

Matt , I reckon' this is a bit Kayak , Pirogue,and decked canoe with a hint of jon boat in the beam LOL...............
