Hey guys.
I'm looking to get some hatches for the end compartments on a
pirogue. Where should I get some at?
I thought about makin them, but I would probably make a mess
of it .

Thank's Keith
These any good?

You could do as I did on the Freedom , turn the bullhead into a hatch and bulkhead combination.
I had more specific pictures on the build but for some reason I can't find them.
Let me check things to see where they are ........
The light colored wood is 1/4 inch the darker wood is 1/8 Th. inch wood and will be the lip for the hatch to fit against. The lip will have some thin foam tape on it to help seal it when the hatch is in place.
The hatch is being glassed to help strengthen it and protect it from the elements. All of this minor work is what takes some time but I am wishing it will be worth while.
When it is shut and locked it is water tight to protect all of the stuff in the aft part of the Freedom.
You can make your own hatches all it takes is some imagination and how you want them to be. Like anything else when we build a boat.......
Here is what it looks like while I was working on some other things on the boat.
It does offer me a lot of good dry and secure storage in the Freedom when paddling and camping with it. No one expects a bulkhead to be a hatch........

I used some Beckson in the past and they work well. Duckworks has some for sale as well.
