SOT Canoe?

As you know I like the lower sides , they are especially nice when fishing. A self draining cockpit would be the nuts when it rains or you are getting in and out of the boat a lot. No water accumlation inside the boat like a regular boat does.
Easy to clean especially after a fishing trip when you hose ( wash ) the boat down.
Light weight so if the water is a ways from where you park , no problem. Can be transported in the back of a pick up.
Will hold a fisherman , a cooler and the fishing gear , or camping gear.

Shallow draft , Stable , easy and rather inexpensive to build , would make a great easy river , backwater or small lake boat , looks like a winner to me with a lot of possibilities and positives for a person to consider.
Only negative I can think of ...Is it interfering with the sales of your pirogues but if the plans were the same cost that matter is mute.

I would recommend you just draw this one up - as is and list her and see what happens If somebody wants something more complicated, they will ask. As drawn, she will be a fine sweetwater boat and would work a treat here.

As drawn, she would also be very suitable for a first time builder - with care and I thought that was the point of the exercise?

But yea, e-z build is the idea.

We are just a bunch of old party poopers and lazy builders and the E-Z part is what caught our eye. Never should of said ... E-Z.

It would be a dream boat for a 1st time builder , offers a lot all the way around and for just about everything but white water running , not saying someone would not try it since it is self bailing.

I can Tx river rat putting a slight "V" in the bottom of it and Mick rigging up a rocket launcher rack for all the fishing rods on the back deck , or was that Darrell that did that??? Nope... Darrell made one as a stripper.

What the heck it would be an easy boat for anyone to customize to the way the builder wanted it. All the time increasing there building skills.

The best factor even before the E-Z building is the fact that it is self bailing , there is nothing harder to control ( OK Almost nothing ) then a canoe full of gear and water. No One has one on the market for a person to build.

In all truth as I was building the tv-15-32 the thought did cross my mind as to what it would have taken to add a false bottom and scuppers. I was trying to keep the weight down somewhat though, so additions were out

Made some adjustments and it's now 13' x 31". Should handle 300 pounds on board without any water sitting in the cockpit (if the hull is balanced on the water).

I think that's the size I'll go with.

Keep thinking about this because I like the idea so much.
Matt, earlier you mentioned 10" high sides and last night while looking at my Laker it occurred to me that its sides are less than 10" in the centre. Does the SOT canoe really need to be that high?

Have had all sorts of thoughts about this concept - are you able to put up more views of the plan (like on the product info pages)? I'm curious about the hull shape and interior detail. If it will take too much time then don't worry - it's probably better to spend the time on the build and we'll all see it as it comes together anyway.
