Yes I've seen it in action but,I don't understand why anyone would want to pedal instead of paddle. Like it might be saving some energy To me it would make more since to mount a trolling motor on the rear or mid-ship with a rudder.

After making the post about the Propel I found heaps of pages on the net with electric drives in kayaks.
This made me look at pricing & I can get a Watersnake for under $300 Australian. I havent managed to get to the Hobie dealer as yet but have seen prices of $500 US so that would be $800 Au.
So the next question is where is it best to mount such a drive. At the rear instead of a rudder or amid-ship that can stear & a fixed rudder???
I took a freind to a dealer invite to paddle many kayaks one had some type of elc. motor and he decided to see what it would be like to paddle if the battery went dead. His words were "Make sure you don't let the battery go dead or it would be a long paddle ". He said that all that equipment made it very heavy to paddle. But there are people that mount trolling motors to kayaks and if I was to mount this type of set up it would be on the rear with foot type rudder control cables to it And also would try to keep as small and as light as possable. Ok,what is the weight of this motor anymore than 20lbs is going to be IMO to much for the Wadefish depending on your own weight. The Wadefish 15x32 plan I wouldn't plan on more than 275lbs total and would be real careful how much of that weight you try to put to the aft of this plan JMO

I am looking at building 2 boats. One for me & one for my daughter. Im about 70Kgs (154lb if my math is right ) my daughter is only 15 & is maybe 10Kgs lighter but will grow a bit more. As for the weight of the electric motors & havent even thought of them as options untill the start of this topic.
Im hoping that we may get some other input as the other side of the world wakes up & starts to look here.
